Trend Translation: Pedicure Inspired by Fendi Cutout Platform Bootie (Neiman Marcus Trend: Bordeaux)
PEDICURE INSPIRED BY FENDI CUTOUT PLATFORM BOOTIE IN WINE
NEIMAN MARCUS FALL PREVIEW: TRENDS – BORDEAUX
Fendi Cutout Platform Bootie in Wine ($835) made from snake-print calfskin.
the INSPIRATION: I am NOT a shoe person. It isn’t that I don’t LIKE shoes, but rather that they – especially those of the heeled variety – have taken a particular dislike to my feet. Oh, but when I see a simply divine pair like this…sigh. I can only dream of a day when I can #1 Afford them and #2 Can walk in them without falling on my face.
So instead of resorting to all-out envy – I decided to recreate the divinity of my dream shoe into a simple pedicure. Granted, I will be whisked away on a poolside holiday shortly, and darkly colored toes are a little somber…but I’ll bask in its moonlit glory anyway.
theSHADES (L-R): OPI La Boheme (Dark Red Shimmer with Gold Pearl), Versace V2077-W (Dark Copper Red Iridescent), Guerlain Meteorites Top Coat in Intense Red (Sheer Red with Iridescent Gold Flake).
HOW TO: Apply two thin coats of La Boheme and let dry. Follow with two “stripes” of V2077-W on the sides of each nail – leaving a stripe of red a bit off center (or you can do the opposite and paint the dark color first and make a stripe of deep red over it). Paint a stripe of Intense Red (or any gold flake polish) over the red stripe, overlapping a bit onto the dark color.
The bad news here is I doubt you’ll be able to find the Versace or Guerlain polish since they were limited edition years ago. Here are a few suggestions:
OTHER COLOR OPTION: GRAY
the SHADES: Essie Mochachino ($8) Shimmery Taupe Gray, China Glaze Stellar ($8.99) Warm Beige with Small Silver Glitter
HOW TO: Two coats Mochachino and a stripe of Stellar a bit off center.
