QUICK REVIEW: A novel bronzer that gives skin a nice warm, golden glow without being overly orange/red or shiny. Best for medium to tan skin tones.

NOTE: Discontinued and replaced with Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Bronzer & Blush.

the REVIEW (1/3/2011): I’ll readily admit that I purchased this because its so darn cute. The equally melodious blend of golden tan tones (void of any orange or red) in my chosen shade, Bronzer, was also a selling point. Happy Booster™ also has a bright pink heart that can be used as a pop of color, a very old-school Bobbi Brown technique.

Now, aside from the adorable but chunky packaging and novel marketing approach of selling happiness in a powder, Happy Booster™ is a good, inexpensive bronzer. It looks very natural on my skin tone (medium/tan with warm undertones) and isn’t overly shiny or too matte. No dirty, orange or flat look here. Texture wise, its smooth (due to the corn starch) and applies evenly – if you use your own bronzing brush. The dinky little brush it comes with is totally useless – I wish they would stop putting cheap brushes in with products.

There are two downsides to this product. One is the scent. Its very strong, even for someone like me that doesn’t normally mind a little fragrance. It has a Violet scent that is supposed to invoke a sense of joy, but it almost prevents me from using the product at all. The second downside is the cute pink heart. It just gets in the way. I put my finger over it while “swirling” the bronzing shades together, then use a smaller blush brush over the heart to pick up the pop color. Its like a Hello Kitty steering wheel cover – cute, gets the job done, but ultimately, a bit silly.

Happy Booster ™ Glow & Mood Boosting Bronzer may not do much to actually “boost” your mood, but the extra glow it adds to your complexion is a little extra happy anyone could use.
