DIOR DIORSHOW 360 MASCARA REVIEWS

A true mascara “revolution”.” – Dior

PRODUCT RATING:★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆ (4/10)

PRICE DETAILS: $36/.33fl.oz. (♦♦♦♦♦)

PRESENTATION: Large mascara tube with revolving brush.

COLOR REVIEWED:Black

KEY FEATURES:  Thickening and novelty applicator.

QUICK REVIEW: Great brush and great formula…but together, it just doesn’t deliver. Clumpy and spikey. Whether it rotates or vibrates – nothing beats the old wiggle zig zag.

the REVIEW (2/5/2011): I’m such a sucker for new fangled mascara gimmicks that if I were a lollipop – I would be the giant rainbow colored one. It would probably be easier to tell you which mascaras I haven’t tried! So – while this was insanely pricey (which is a lot coming from me) I dropped my $36 for the really cool rotating brush.Whoever does the product descriptions for Dior should be given a raise – because it entices even a seasoned and jaded makeup girl like me.

The brush itself is really cool. The detailed embossed “switch” is so Dior that it alone justifies the price. I actually leave it standing on my vanity – its that pretty. It has a helix shaped brush that has longer bristles to accommodate the “unprecedented Lash Wax™” formula which is thickening/curling/lengthening. Standing alone, the brush and the mascara formula are quite good. The brush really gets between each lash and effectively mimics the wiggle/zig zag motion; and the mascara is long wearing and very thickening. But put the two together – disaster. The main problem is the container does not remove enough of the product from the brush – literally clogging up every bristle. This alone makes it impossible to get a clump-free application or a curl to the lash (its too wet). Too bad – because that little detail made a potentially great mascara flop.

I’m going to wash the brush off and keep it separate. Luckily the mascara comes with a stopper to showcase the brush when you first buy it, so I’m going to actually use them separately.

2/25/11: I’m returning this. For $36 it should do something more than give me clumpy, messy eyelashes.

DIOR 360 MASCARA DETAILS:
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: “This professional mascara mimics a makeup artist’s application technique for a perfect 360-degree lash-styling effect. Featuring a patented double-helix brush with extra-smooth fibers and a sculptable wax formula, this mascara features a spinning brush that rotates in both directions to adapt to every need, whether you’re left- or right-handed or you want to pump up upper or lower lashes.” -Sephora
DIRECTIONS: “Turn the silver ring to activate the brush rotation. Systematically make sure that you turn the ring in the optimal direction, so that the brush turns upward to apply mascara to upper lashes and downward to apply to lover lashes. One the activated brush is turning the in right direction, place it at the base of lashes and brush mascara on as usual. The brush rotation helps you amplify curve, volume and definition of your lashes.” – From enclosed Dior 360 Mascara pamphlet.

  1. Thanks for the info! I love Show and Blackout. I won’t be buying this one…I probably would have if you didn’t review it!

  2. There’s only one defining question for me regarding mascara: is it better than Definicils? Sounds like a no.

Cool review; love your writing. Keep it up Ms. Monster!

  3. @Lynn – I’m glad, because I don’t recommend purchasing it. I still think their Diorshow is the best from their line…but not the best that’s out there!
@Lauren – I’ll be putting together a mascara dedicated post soon! Thank you for the comments!
