QUICK REVIEW: With a superior ingredient list, Omorovicza’s Thermal Cleansing Balm is easy to use and leaves skin immaculately clean, smooth and glowing.
the REVIEW (2/15/2011): Let me start by saying that I have fallen in love with this glorious jar of cleansing balm – the scent, the effect on my skin, the sheer act of applying it is the highlight of my beauty routine. While this is thorough enough on its own as a makeup remover/cleanser with proper use – I still prefer to use it as a pre-cleanser in place of my normal cleansing oil.
The texture is like a lip balm and has a speckled black/gray color from the Hungarian Mud. It’s scent is lightly herbal and I find it relaxing and enjoyable. I scrape out about the size of a raisin onto my fingertips and emulsify it into a rich oil – then I gently massage it into my skin starting at the center (where I’m oiliest) and working my way out with deliberate circular sweeping upward motions for at least 60 seconds. This relieves the tension in the facial muscles and allows the product to effectively breakdown and remove makeup, excess oils and impurities. Using a soft baby wash cloth and warm water, I place the cloth over my face to allow the warmth to further soften the balm, then gently remove the balm using upward and outward strokes, folding the cloth frequently to use a clean side. If I’m using a lot of makeup, I’ll use a bit more balm and repeat this step until the cloth comes away clean. I still find that I need to use a separate eye makeup remover to remove all traces of heavier eye makeup – but it works great if you don’t wear anything waterproof.
The result? Smooth, glowing skin. The best benefit is I saw a remarkable reduction is clogged pores which I only see when I use my magnified mirror to groom my brows. Still, this seemingly unnoticeable improvement has given my skin an overall smoother and more refined texture. I will be very sad when my jar runs out – with regular daily use it will last about 2 months. However, it is definitely on my Ultimate Luxuries list as worth every penny.
OMOROVICZA VS. EVE LOM: For those who have used the Eve Lom Cleanser – in comparison, the Omorovicza is lighter in texture and not as difficult to remove. Both offer deep cleansing – but Omorovicza’s formula is more skin friendly, using Sweet Almond Oil and Jojoba Oil as a base vs. Eve Lom’s Mineral Oil. The Cleansing Balm is also paraben free where as the Eve Lom cleanser is not. My experience with the Eve Lom overall was a positive one, although after trying the Omorovicza balm, there is no comparison. The Eve Lom is less expensive per ounce, but the Omorovicza formula is superior based on the ingredients and performance.
