QUICK REVIEW: While cute and sweetly scented, Strawberry Yogurt Mask is more of a novelty in comparison to the other My Beauty Diary varieties.

the REVIEW (05/19/2011): The idea and application of pre-moistened cloth face masks has always been one of my favorites – the results are both immediate and cumulative, giving skin an immediate boost of hydration and other skin care benefits. Thus far I has used higher end versions of this traditionally Asian application – including Koh Gen Do Macro Vintage Essence Mask (6 applications $110) and Creme de la Mer Radiant Facial (8 applications $320). I didn’t BUY the La Mer mask – I got to try it out, which was one of the perks of working in cosmetics. They were both pleasant experiences for sure – but luckily for us all, I enjoyed the My Beauty Diary Masks equally – if not just a little more.

HOW I DISCOVERED MY BEAUTY DIARY: I came across My Beauty Diary during a trip to a Don Quiote store, where they had a free standing display of the masks. My first purchase was the Sake Yeast Mask since I was doing a review on Rice Force and focused on rice based skin care. After I got home and researched My Beauty Diary a bit further, I decided to pick up the Apple Polyphenol Mask since it was recommended for large pores and the 7 Best Sellers Set which had 7 different masks. After trying the Sake Yeast Mask, I was hooked and also picked up the Strawberry Yogurt Mask.

The PRODUCT: Each mask is individually wrapped and soaked with essence – the Asian version of serums. You place the wet fiber mask over the face (it has holes for your eyes, nose and mouth) and leave it on for 20 minutes or more. There was some getting used to the “wetness” of the mask since it literally was dripping with essence – so I take the excess and apply it to my arms and chest. The Strawberry Yogurt Mask has a sweet strawberry milk candy scent that I found “happy” but made it more likely to appeal primarily to the younger customer. It has a glycerin base, some parabens and does have yogurt and strawberry (Frangariavria Vesca) extract which I appreciate.  Not a natural product by any means – but pleasant all the same.

The RESULTS: The Strawberry Yogurt Mask targets a younger customer that has oily skin – and I kept that in mind when I used it. The yummy scent was actually quite pleasing and my skin did feel more balanced after the whole application was done. After the initial results wore off, there was no lasting oil control benefits or the same long term hydration that I get from the other masks. Strawberry Yogurt Mask is still a fun, smile inducing experience – but if you’re looking for more skin care benefits, the other My Beauty Diary offerings may be more effective.

TIP: These masks are absolute perfection for those who travel – you can easily pop one on during and after your flight to prevent dehydrated skin.
