SKIN TYPES: All skin types.

QUICK REVIEW: Like a shot of sake, this mask brings a glow to your face.

the REVIEW (05/17/2011): The idea and application of pre-moistened cloth face masks has always been one of my favorites – the results are both immediate and cumulative, giving skin an immediate boost of hydration and other skin care benefits. Thus far I has used higher end versions of this traditionally Asian application – including Koh Gen Do Macro Vintage Essence Mask (6 applications $110) and Creme de la Mer Radiant Facial (8 applications $320). I didn’t BUY the La Mer mask – I got to try it out, which was one of the perks of working in cosmetics. They were both pleasant experiences for sure – but luckily for us all, I enjoyed the My Beauty Diary Masks equally – if not just a little more.

HOW I DISCOVERED MY BEAUTY DIARY: I came across My Beauty Diary during a trip to a Don Quiote store, where they had a free standing display of the masks. My first purchase was the Sake Yeast Mask since I was doing a review on Rice Force and focused on rice based skin care. After I got home and researched My Beauty Diary a bit further, I decided to pick up the Apple Polyphenol Mask since it was recommended for large pores and the 7 Best Sellers Set which had 7 different masks. After trying the Sake Yeast Mask, I was hooked and also picked up the Strawberry Yogurt Mask.

The PRODUCT: Each mask is individually wrapped and soaked with essence – the Asian version of serums. You place the wet fiber mask over the face (it has holes for your eyes, nose and mouth) and leave it on for 20 minutes or more. There was some getting used to the “wetness” of the mask since it literally was dripping with essence – so I take the excess and apply it to my arms and chest. The Sake Yeast Mask has a neutral scent that smells like mild sake. It is different, but isn’t bothersome. It has a glycerin base, some parabens and one of the ingredients is Sake Yeast Extract which has been found to have excellent anti-aging benefits.  Not a natural product by any means – but pleasant to use all the same.

The RESULTS: I haven’t tried all of the “flavors” yet, but so far the Sake Yeast Mask and Aloe Mask are my favorites. While I normally use these masks (and most others) before bedtime in order for my skin to fully absorb the essence, I prefer using the Sake Yeast Mask in the morning or during the day when my skin looks dull. After using this mask, your skin looks noticeably lighter and more even toned. The effects are temporary – but this would be a great product to use before a big date or when you want to look your best. Skin is plumped, hydrated and moist – benefits that last throughout the day.

TIP: These masks are absolute perfection for those who travel – you can easily pop one on during and after your flight to prevent dehydrated skin.

    1. I’ve only seen it at the Pearl City Don Quixote – and its near the regular cosmetic aisle, but in the Japanese cosmetic section. Last I’ve seen it was on a free standing display and on the end cap. I really like the new Chocolate Truffle one.
