the REVIEW: Elegantly housed in a limited edition tortoise shell compact, Bronze Tortoise is one of the most versatile and prettiest palettes from Bobbi Brown. It is one of my favorite picks this season.

With 8 shadows including 5 new shades, this gorgeous collection allows you to create a myriad of looks from natural to softly dramatic. More warm toned than many of Bobbi Brown’s previous palettes, Bronze Tortoise is a great option for those with more olive or deeper skin tones. The shades are moderately pigmented, although it seems like Copper Cocoa is a bit more creamy and applies the best out of the 8 shades. My favorite color is the Olive Sparkle Eye Shadow which is an antiqued greyed olive infused with gold. Very pretty and is a softer option for creating a smokey eye when used with Espresso.

My only color missing from this palette was a warm matte brown like Camel, which would have been perfect…or Taupe, since having the Bronze Metallic and Copper Cocoa is a bit redundant.  I would have also preferred a slightly warmer dark shade like Caviar instead of Espresso.

Bronze Tortoise Shell Eye Palette is a fantastic buy since the shades are easy to combine for different looks – no strange or out of place colors here! Bobbi Brown enthusiast will love the new shades in this palette and if you are a first time Bobbi user, the palette also offers a nice introduction to the different textures of Bobbi Brown shadows. Just use Banana all over, sweep one of the other shades on the lid and line with Espresso. This basic Bobbi Brown technique I learned over 10 years ago is still the easiest and most effective way to start wearing shadow.

BOBBI BROWN RICH LIP COLOR - SOFT NUDERich Lip Color SPF12 – Soft Nude

PRODUCT RATING:★★★★★★★★☆ (9/10)

PRICE DETAILS: .13oz./3/8g for $23

SHADE: Limited Edition! Soft Nude (light nude brown). See bottom of post for swatches

the REVIEW: Soft Nude reminds me of Bobbi Brown’s original Nude lip color but with a creamier texture and added SPF. While normally drawn to more muted and pale shades of beige, this slightly rosy shade has become one of my favorites. It gives my lips, and consequently my skin, a slight pop of color without looking like I have lipstick on.

The texture is traditionally creamy without feeling waxy or like its coating your lips – which is one of the reasons I typically don’t like lipstick. I haven’t tried other shades of Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color SPF12, but the wear of Soft Nude was spot on. It lasted through most of my day and gradually wore off, leaving behind a nuance of color. My lips also didn’t get dry or feel gummy and there was no flaking, which I get from other lipsticks.

I’m surprised this was a limited edition shade – which Bobbi Brown never used to do in the 90’s, especially since it is one of the most wearable and universally flattering lip colors I’ve come across in a very long time. Perhaps we’ll get lucky and they’ll release it as a permanent shade before we run out. If you can find this – buy one. Or two.

BOBBI BROWN HIGH SHIMMER LIP GLOSS - BEACHHigh Shimmer Lip Gloss – Beach

PRODUCT RATING:★★★★★★★★★☆ (9/10)

PRICE DETAILS: .24fl.oz./7ml. for $23

SHADE: New Shade! Beach (pink bronze with pearl). See bottom of post for swatches.

the REVIEW: The first lip glosses by Bobbi Brown were very sticky (but shiny and lasted all day!). Still, I’m not one to have a lot of texture on my lips. The Bobbi Brown Shimmer glosses were some of my favorites, but I wore them blotted over lip liner to take the edge off. These High Shimmer Lip Glosses, Beach (a shimmering bronze pink) in particular, have all the high shine and wear of the original glosses, the pretty sparkle of the original Shimmer glosses, with none of the annoying heavy, sticky texture!

Slicking a little of this gloss with the doe-foot applicator over any lipstick, gives it a subtle shimmer, shine and really brings a natural glow to the lips. This is the perfect pair for Soft Nude Rich Lip Color (or over Brown if you can’t find Soft Nude and the entire Tortoise Shell collection. It’s a definite must-have for pretty lips year round.
