QUICK REVIEW: By combining science and nature, Sircuit Skin has created a unique cleanser that not only keeps blemishes banned, but skin healthy and smooth. My favorite!

the REVIEW (08/14/2011): I never thought I would find a facial cleanser that I would like as much as, if not more than Conju Princess Soap. The fact that Sircuit Skin Savior | Problem Skin Cleanser is a lightly foaming liquid wash in a pump bottle (it normally comes with a flip cap) probably gives it an edge over a bar soap – and the results have kept me continuously blemish free.

Savior has more of a liquid texture vs. a gel texture which activates easily with a small amount of water. It has a low foam and an herbal/minty scent which is very invigorating. There is a light cooling action thanks to the peppermint oil – a welcome sensation given the hot Summer we’ve been having. There’s also something appealing about Sircuit Skin packaging – its simple, but not sloppy (as a designer, that drives me crazy!) and there’s something oddly trustworthy about it. I appreciate Sircuit Skin being up front about their ingredients too!

Lets take a quick  look at a the ingredients.

For Your Information: Decyl Glucoside,Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, are super mild cleansing and lathering agents that are derived and then synthesized from lichen succinate (arctic moss), and coconut glycine and are not SLS. – Sircuit Skin

With 2% Salicylic Acid, 5% L-Lactic Acid, Totoral, Peppermint and Tea Tree, this cleanser has some serious acne fighting power. What makes this different from other acne washes is the added Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Olive Leaf Extract and Aloe give it soothing, moisturizing properties as well.

NOTE: This is not a makeup remover. It will remove light face makeup, but it should not be used around the eyes. I remove my eye makeup before washing my face and it works perfectly. There has been no residue on my cotton pad after rinsing.

the RESULTS: While I used primarily Sircuit Skin products for several months, I experienced no breakouts. None. While I don’t have a big problem with acne, this still kept any stress or hormone related breakouts at bay. Using this mainly as my morning cleanser (Sircuit Skin X-Trap makes a good evening cleanser since you can use it around the eye area) there were also no irritated, dry areas that normally occur when I used acne products.

the FINAL ROAR: I wish I liked cheaper products – but since I’ll be spending a lifetime in this skin, I use what works, nevermind the price. Its rare that I find a skin care product that I LOVE, and this is my current favorite. Other than not removing eye makeup (which I don’t expect facial cleansers to do – that’s just simply NOT their function), this is a perfect formulation that I hope they never change. I just ordered my second bottle and I’m certain this will be a staple for years to come.

A CLOSER LOOK: Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine

Source: TruthinAging.com
This ingredient has a wide range of uses, especially with hair care products. It acts as a foaming agent, conditioner, anti-static agent, surfactant and thickener. As a mild surfactant, it gently cleanses the skin/hair and helps deliver other ingredients contained in a product, particularly moisturizing and cleansing ones. It’s mostly used in bath and hair products such as shampoo, body wash, cleanser, hair dye, liquid hand soap, bubble bath, conditioner, exfoliant/scrub and shaving cream.

A CLOSER LOOK: Totarol™

Source: Totarol.com
Totarol™ is a naturally occurring plant extract against potent anti-bacterial activity in both gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Totarol™ has also potent anti-oxidant properties. Totarol™ is active against acne and tooth decay bacteria, and is one of the rare phytochemicals active against penicillin and methicillin resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus.
Totarol™ has value as an active ingredient or preservative in skin, body and oral care products, as well as in disinfectants. Totarol™ is a non-primary irritant and non-primary sensitizer to the human skin. The most abundant source of Totarol™ is the heartwood of the New Zealand Totara tree. Mende Biotech Ltd is the only commercial supplier of Totarol™ to manufacturers of natural products.
