QUICK REVIEW: Pure refreshing perfection for anyone with skin. A facial mist that actually DOES something!

the “MADE BETTER” MOLECULAR MIST+ REVIEW (09/15/2012): After trying the sample of the original Molecular Mist, I ended up getting a full size of the Immaculate Mist which I really appreciate for its simplicity and ability to calm my incredibly finicky skin. Sircuit Skin recently introduced  revamped “Made Better” formulations of most of their products and I’m still on a fence about whether I like them or not. Perhaps I’m the minority, but I loved the simple formulas and found them to be very successful. Or maybe I’m just biased.

SIRCUIT SKIN MADE BETTER MOLECULAR MIST+ TRIAL SIZE

The “Made Better” version of MOLECULAR MIST (you have the new version if its followed by a +) has included quite a bit of new ingredients including various extracts and Sodium Hyaluronate which undoubtedly adds more moisture to the skin. While the + version does seem to hydrate skin quite effectively on its own – a bit more than the original – the addition of the new ingredients did seem to up the tendency to make my skin react. However, I will say that in general, MOLECULAR MIST+ is more effective at creating a hydrated base prior to moisturizers and I did not experience any evaporation related dryness. Those with sensitive skin should try the sample size HERE before investing in a large size (keep the pocket spray, refill and put it in your purse).

COSMETIC PRODUCT REVIEWS

THE ORIGINAL FORMULATION REVIEW (Replaced by Molecular Mist+):

the REVIEW (08/14/2011): I’m not a toner person – but I do use facial waters to prep my skin before applying any serum or moisturizer. Sircuit Skin Molecular Mist almost makes the application of other products unnecessary! The uniquely scented (but sans perfume) hydrator instantly gives skin a boost with heavy water, chirally correct Hamamelis extract (witch hazel), L-Arginine PCA for moisture, protective myrrh and Spin Trap, a powerful antioxidant.

You can use Molecular Mist in several ways: as a toner mist before other treatment products, throughout the day to hydrate, over mineral makeup to give it an extra glow, on a makeup sponge for moist application or at the beach or pool for quick refreshment and moisture.

the RESULTS: Once I got used to the scent (I thought it was perfumed – its not, the coconut extract and myrrh give it its unique scent) I found this product to boost my skin’s moisture before any treatment products. Since my skin was moist and balanced, I didn’t feel the need to over apply my skin care. In fact, applying serums and moisturizers over slightly moist skin made them easier to apply. This worked incredibly well with Sircuit Skin Oraia serum – banishing any dry, irritated patches in a matter of days. I just purchased the full size (2oz.) Immaculate Mist, which is the oily skin cousin to Molecular Mist, which I will likely switch to once the cooler months start.

the FINAL ROAR: This is a bit pricey for a “toner” – however, it goes beyond a traditional facial mist. Sircuit Skin Molecular Mist is a lifesaver for eliminating dry skin without a heavy product – and perfect for those who have oily skin and don’t want a traditional cream or lotion.

A CLOSER LOOK: Phenyl Butyl Nitrone (Spin Trap)

  • PBN can provide unique protection against free radical induced skin damage.
  • PBN can be administered topically to control inflammatory processes; an underlying cause of skin aging.
  • PBN is useful for enhancing the activities of topically applied antioxidants such vitamin C, vitamin E and Lipoic Acid and is commonly incorporated into preparations which include other antioxidants.
  • Spin Traps show promise as blocking agents for inflammation caused by UV exposure. Unlike traditional sunscreens, which prevent UV mediated inflammation when used before exposure, spin trap compounds scavenge free radicals and minimize the inflammatory response during and for up to 12 hours after exposure to UV light. By interfering with the inflammatory cascade, these compounds may prevent collagen and elastin degradation, and thus premature aging of the skin.

A CLOSER LOOK: Arginine (L)

Amino acid that has antioxidant properties and can be helpful for wound healing.
