COSMETIC MONSTER - WICKED COSMETIC CONFESSIONS WITH A WHIMSICAL TWIST

PAPERSELF FALSE EYELASHES - UNDER THE SEAPAPERSELF

I love being surprised. This is rare when it comes to cosmetic innovation, but Paperself Eyelashes which incorporates the art of Chinese paper-cutting actually made me stop to take a closer look.

PAPERSELF collaborated with London Djs “the broken hearts” to create this ocean themed set of lashes which feature tiny starfish, a sea horse and a pair of angel fish. Available in full and small sizes, I wouldn’t wear these if you want people to listen to you – they will be memorized (or confused) by your fishy flutter.

Available in a variety of equally whimsical designs, PAPERSELF gets a big thumbs-up for creating a product that may not be practical – but offers us a touch of whimsy. Oh, and the OCD designer in me LOVES the logo!

NARS DOGON

Blackened Mint Tea is a standard smokey eye enhanced with a pop of iridescent shine. What’s amazing about this look is I used to wear it to work when I was a Product Specialist for Shu Uemura. It is a simple smokey eye which uses only 2 shadow colors (a matte black and a pale iridescent green), a eye liner, mascara and lashes. The lashes are Shu Uemura Black Mini (Feather) from my lash stash and no longer sold. They basically look like a feathered half lash – dramatic, but unusually natural looking. Any flared half lash will do.

HOW TO: This Dramatic Smoke look is actually quite simple to achieve. Use a liquid pencil (like L’Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eye Liner in Black) to draw a thick line on the top and a thin line in the bottom lashes. Use the matte black shadow from NARS Dogon (Spring 2011) to smoke the liner. Then blend the iridescent iced green over the edges of the black and smudge gently with your fingertip. Apply 2 coats mascara and lashes (optional).

TURQUOISE MONSTER COSMETIC BAGI’m obviously a sucker for all things Monster. This cosmetic bag is so cute and reminds me of Barry’s Farm laptop bags. Check Barry’s out HERE.

I’m resisting the urge on this little makeup bag – unless I can find it in store. The shipping on this item to Hawaii is more than $9.99. LOL. Although with gas prices at nearly $4 a gallon – driving into town might cost me the same thing.
