Philosophy Sugar Sprinkles Funnel Cake + Cupcake Inspired Manicures
Philosophy Sugar Sprinkles Funnel Cake 3-in-1 ($16) is an adorable shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath which has a pretty shimmering pink color and a yummy baked cake scent. Its decorated with sprinkles and is simply happy faces in a bottle. While I am not a pink and pretty kind of girl – for some reason, I love to LOOK at things that are.
Which brings me to my last and current manicure. On the left is the manicure inspired by Deborah Lippmann’s Candy Shop – which is a bubble gum pink with 2 sizes of rainbow glitter. The Get This Party Started set ($42 for 3 colors) from Nordstrom was very tempting, but since I really only wanted Candy Shop (the other colors are pretty too) I set out to do a more affordable DIY. I settled for a California Colors bright pink base and OPI for Sephora Spark-tacular Top Coat ($9.50). The finished look is a lot more vibrant that the photograph and received a remarkable amount of compliments.
On the right is my first ever Gelish manicure (or manicure in general that I can recall) which I had done by Jenny at Nailtek Nail Salon in the Town Center of Mililani. The overall process took roughly 30 minutes while there were a few sanitation issues (like the bowl of dirty tools soaking in the sink where clients wash their hands…a bit gross), the overall experience was a good one. I love the look of the manicure – but I’m not sure its worth $50 (including tip). This is not a service that I will do consistently, since I have an issue with the rather harsh removal process (you need to use pure acetone) – the same reason I don’t like artificial nails.
