PLUM ♥ BERRY : Hot Picks for Fall
My September Beauty Fix Picks
Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Mineral Makeup SPF 15 Review + Before/After Photos
← Urban Decay Book of Shadows IV ($64) – Not only is this incredibly chic super-sized palette filled with simply gorgeous shadows ranging from neutrals to muted metallic teal, but it also includes Urban Decays new Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion, a Supercurl Mascara, a Primer Potion and a portable speaker and how-to videos that you can access with your smart phone.
→ Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Mitzah ($60) – I know I already talked about this, but I saw this palette in person…and I want it!! For me, its the perfect combination of chocolate brown, golden tan, camel and ivory with a deep khaki gray shimmer that takes it to the next level. I’ve been wanting to see the camel color in ANY palette because it gives the eyes definition while working with skin’s naturally yellow/beige undertones. The entire Mitzah collection, which is a Sephora exclusive is as close to collection perfection as I’ve seen in a long time.
Our new band, Mommy Fortuna and the Midnight Carnival had their first gig opening for Missing Dave this past Friday night. This was the look I went for – which I have to admit, was a disappointment. I should have gone with my first instinct and done a traditional smokey eye with lashes, but I thought I’d do a defined crease and shimmer on the lid instead – since it always photographed well before. My sister walked in and asked if I was drunk (I wasn’t) or tired (I wasn’t) – so I guess it didn’t work out the way I planned!
All that girly business aside, we had a magnificent time and it felt really good to be up on stage again. Still, truth be known – doing my makeup for gigs is half the fun!
La Mer The Collection* ($260) includes: The Moisturizing Gel Cream (1oz.), The Regenerating Serum (.5oz) and The Eye Concentrate (.17oz.) beautifully boxed in La Mer’s signature sea foam green and white gift box. I’m excited to see the cumulative effects of using the three steps together. Since I also had samples of the Radiant Serum and the Lifting Intensifier, I’ll be testing these out as well.
I’ll be using the La Mer products with Japanese Yoka Soap ($27.99, available at yoka-microfoam.com or Marukai) along with Sircuit Skin Sir Activ ($48, available at sircuitskin.com) twice a week. I’ll also be giving the NEW Dr. Brandt Pore Thing with EVERMAT™ T-Zone Pore Tightener ($45, available at sephora.com) a go on the annoying pores on my t-zone in the AM.
This luxurious facial oil has an amazing blend of jasmine, almond, jojoba, evening primrose, calendula, argan, neroli and other skin friendly oils. I can only imagine that it smells divine and gives the skin an instant glow.
While the idea of putting oil on my skin while the weather is still warm isn’t too appealing, Rodin Olio Lusso is definitely on my list for the cooler months ahead.
