the REVIEW: This small vat of Amal Oils Moroccan Savon Noir with Eucalyptus has become an immediate favorite – its nostalgic eucalyptus aroma and unique formulation pushing ahead of other tubes and bottles of bath products. Reminiscent in scent of Noxema or Vicks Vaporub, Savon Noir with Eucalyptus has a rather strong (but pleasantly so, if it is your thing) scent that aids nasal congestion and fatigue.

The surprisingly simple formulation (it only has 5 ingredients) has a thick, rich, paste like texture that transforms into a low foam if used with a puff or bath cloth. I use it with a Japanese wash cloth which has a rougher texture for a super invigorating scrub down – minus any irritation. It can also be used with success on the face (use just a pinch) and worked incredibly well with the Clarisonic Mia – giving skin a brilliant glow. Since Savon Noir has an olive oil base – skin is left moisturized, not dry or tight.

What impressed me the most was how it relieved my aching muscles after a month of extra long hours. Using an extra amount in a hot shower with a bath brush really stimulated blood flow and renewed my energy and spirits. Perhaps its because eucalyptus reminds me of moments when my Mom pampered me (Noxema on sunburned shoulders or Vicks Vaporub when I was ill) – but either way, Moroccan Savon Noir with Eucalyptus has reached La Mer-like status. While it may not be a product I use daily, it will always be part of my routine.

the FINAL ROAR!: I love the eucalyptus scent and simple formula. For those who rather have an even simpler and less fragrant option, Amal Oils Savon Noir ($32) has the same formulation sans eucalyptus.
