COCOA WONDERLAND | CHOCOLATE COSMETICS & THEN SOME
I’m not sure if its better than sex – but the sweet sensation of melting chocolate on your tongue comes pretty close. While chocolate is known to have great antioxidant power, over consumption has been proven to have anti-skinny-jeans-power. Drat. Fear not Cravers of Cocoa – here is a fun list of luscious and calorie free treats just for the holidays when chocolate is bountiful (my nemesis are those red boxes of Dark Chocolate Covered Cherries).
My Beauty Diary Chocolate Truffle Sheet Mask ($16, webichi.com). These affordable sheet masks by My Beauty Diary are not only effective in hyper-hydrating the skin but come in dozens of “flavors” ranging from Collagen and Black Pearl to the more whimsical like Strawberry Yogurt. It doesn’t matter which you choose – they all perform wonderfully.
The Chocolate Truffle is no exception. Its serum soaked mask is lightly scented like rich chocolate and actually uses cocoa bean and truffle extract for a delightful experience. I used this when I was feeling worn out – and my skin was following suit. The yummy scent and soft skin lifted my spirits without any calories.
Teeccino Maya Chocolate Herbal Coffee Tee-Bags ($4.24, teeccino.com). I love a nice hot cup of cocoa or better yet, a Starbucks Iced Peppermint Mocha complete with whip and those chocolate sprinkly things. Unfortunately, they are not 18 calories, non-fat (butt) with only 1g of sugar like these delicious Teeccino Herbal Coffees. Which are the vegi-burger version of cocoa/coffee – so you have to drink them with an open mind. It tastes like a See’s Chocolate Lollipop with very little sugar and is actually good for you too.
Softsoap Molten Chocolate Body Wash ($5.79 suggested, Walmart stores). The scent of chocolate in a body product can either be spot on like Philosophy Classic Fudge Cake 3 in 1 ($16) or smell like a plastic Tootsie Roll. I initially purchased this affordable body wash for my daughter – my first choice would have been the Wintermint Party, but I’m so glad we took a sniff before throwing it into our cart. Yum! It doesn’t smell, look or work like cheap body wash – and it hasn’t dried out my skin which is a big bonus. I’m grabbing a couple more of this limited edition item before the season is over.
100% Pure Cocoa Pigmented Bronzer ($25, 100percentpure.com). With ingredients like cocoa powder, cocoa butter, apricot, peach, pomegranate, blackberry, raspberry, coffee, papaya, tomato, black tea and acai – I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to create a natural faux glow or have a snack! The creamy sheer powder was a surprise, not at all what I was expecting from a product that also boasts lavender, rosehip oil and avocado butter. The lightest shade, Honey (light golden brown) is too light to use as a bronzer on my medium toned skin – but it still gives a slight glow and doesn’t irritate my skin.
