Perhaps its the Spring air which has spurred a need for an overhaul. After living with the extra 15 pounds and rather unsuccessful attempts at recapturing what I think of as “my prime” – I’ve realized that personal recreation is not about trying to recapture the past but creating a new fabulously glorious you.
At 39, I’ve vowed to be “Fit at 40” which gives me about 7 months to get into the best shape of my life. This doesn’t mean you’ll be seeing me on a P90x commercial at 2 in the morning – but I might just dash by you at next year’s Great Aloha Run! My hair has been chopped into a pixie to not just save myself from a lifetime of messy ponytails but to seriously save me time in the morning. Plus, I suck at using a flat iron.
That’s it. That’s my big reinvention for now. Although my eyebrows could use some help…

←Pantone Tangerine Tango Journal ($9.95).
Can we talk Tangerine for a moment? While the beauty world is a buzz with brights – Pantone releases its 2012 Color of the Year, Tangerine Tango (aka 17-1463). Sephora + Pantone Universe snags the opportunity and turns it into a cosmetic collection featuring the electric orange hue.
If you look back a bit, this shocking (yet strangely flattering and oddly popular) shade is similar to NARS Heatwave or the more recent Bobbi Brown Atomic Orange. So do I really want another orange lippie?
Luckily, Pantone’s Spring 2012 Color Report is ablaze with an eclectic rainbow of shades including neutrals, pastels and other vibrant hues – so there’s something for everyone. My personal favorites are Driftwood and Cockatoo.
This glamorous look features NEW products that will be launching in Fall 2012. Rich Caviar Palette? I am intrigued. You can create a similar look with Bobbi Brown Caviar Eye Shadow ($21), Brow Kit ($45) which features 2 neutral eye shadow shades that can be used on brows and lids, Slopes Blush ($24) and Uber Beige Lip Color ($23).
(L-R): TOO FACED SUMMER EYE COLLECTION ($36, TooFaced.com). Gorgeous neutrals and vibrant brights which are perfect for parties or poolside. ♥THE FACE SHOP RICE WATER BRIGHT O2 CLEANSING FOAM ($30, The Face Shop). This cool cleanser bursts into an oxygen infusing foam when its applied to dry skin. Its a must for dull morning skin. ESTEE LAUDER TRAVEL EXCLUSIVE LIMITED EDITION COLORS PALETTE (Select Travel Retail Locations). 5 versatile lip shades, 5 gloriously shimmery shadows plus 2 brushes nestled in a velvet case which makes it perfect for travel and everyday glamour. ♥LANCOME TEINT IDOLE ULTRA 24H ($44, Lancome-usa.com). The first long lasting foundation that looks natural, feels light and really does last all day. OMOROVICZA COMPLEXION PERFECTOR BB SPF 20 ($135, Omorovicza.com). Finally – a BB cream that is silicone-free! This multi-tasking wonder also leaves skin flawless, protected and hydrated.
SEPHORA + PANTONE UNIVERSE COLOR OF THE YEAR CREME LIPSTICK IN TANGERINE TANGO ($18). Creamy vibrant orange lip color will give your Winter weary skin an energetic pop of color. ♥CLARISONIC MIA IN MANDARIN ($119). This must-have and unparalleled skin care tool is now available in a fun citrus inspired shade. KORRES WILD ROSE + VITAMIN C ADVANCED BRIGHTENING SLEEPING FACIAL ($48). Wild Rose Oil and Stabilized Vitamin C will give you brighter, more radiant skin in 14 nights. FRESH SUGAR CORAL TINTED LIP TREATMENT SPF 15 ($22.50). The latest installment to the Fresh Sugar Lips Collection – this sheer deep peach is a more natural way to wear the season’s orange flavored lip.

“The look of false lashes has never been easier or more affordable with this do-it-yourself system that’s an alternative to messy false lashes and expensive lash extensions. The activating mascara base and top coat is designed specifically to melt and seal the Flexistretch nylon fibers into long, thick, dramatic lashes without the risk, mess, or commitment of other false lash alternatives. Unlike traditional fiber mascaras, Better Than False Lashes allows you to dial up the lengthening fibers so you easily get better, longer, thicker, more dramatic lashes instantly.”
