THE FACE SHOP FACE IT ONE STEP BB CLEANSER

“BB Cleanser that transforms to cleansing oil after mixing with water.” – The Face Shop

PRODUCT RATING: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆ (7 /10)

PRICE DETAILS: $18 for 200 ml./6.7 fl.oz. (♦♦♦♦♦)

PRESENTATION: Plastic pump bottle

TEXTURE & SCENT: Medium thick gel/oil cleanser with light herbal/floral scent.

SKIN TYPE: All skin types.

FEATURES: Argan tree kernel oil and 12 herbal extracts soothe skin while removing highly adhering BB Cream (traditional Asian formulations)

QUICK REVIEW: Effectively removes heavy face makeup including thicker BB Creams and long wearing foundation, though I recommend a second application to completely remove all face makeup residue. Does not effectively remove eye makeup like some traditional cleansing oils.

the REVIEW: (Extra Reading: Pro Lesson | Skin Care 101 | Part One: Makeup Removal) With the introduction of base makeup and BB Creams (or Beauty Balms) which have a heavier and more durable coverage, using traditional facial cleansers are no long efficient on their own. Personally, I always use a dual cleansing routine to remove makeup simply because its the most effective and thorough way to thoroughly clean the skin. However, it has become apparent that many women simply do not have the time – or do not want to put in the effort – to add an extra step to their skin care.

While cleansing sheets are a quick and easy way to remove most makeup, The Face Shop Face-It One-Step BB Cleanser is a super fast and simple way to remove face makeup at the sink. It really is one step (for face makeup only). It is an oil-like gel cleanser that can be used on dry skin to breakdown waterproof and long-wearing base or BB cream – which turns into a foaming cleanser when water is added.

Too good to be true? A little. While its an effective cleanser, it is still not as thorough as using a two-part method. Also, since its not truly an oil, it doesn’t spread on the skin as easily and you need to use a bit more product to get a comfortable amount of slip, which then becomes overkill when water is added. It cannot be used as an eye makeup remover (I tried – ouch) which takes the one-step concept away.

the FINAL ROAR!: The Face Shop Face-It One-Step BB Cleanser is a nice gel cleanser for light makeup days and has lots of herbal extracts which lends to a pleasant experience overall. I prefer The Face Shop Essence Cleansing Oil Gel (see below for overview) but its being discontinued and won’t be carried in the US since sales are poor. Which is unfortunate, because its one of the best affordable makeup removers I’ve come across.
