PRODUCT: HARD AS NAILS XTREME WEAR NAIL COLOR
SHADE: BLUE ME AWAY!
THAKOON FOR NARS
PRODUCT: NAIL COLOR
To be honest, I’m a bit tired of Tangerine Tango and have found solace in the simplicity of this true Cyan shade of blue. Void of frills – no shimmer, glitter or iridescence, Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Blue Me Away! and Limited Edition Thakoon for NARS Nail Color in Koliary both offer a cheery blast of blue that is surprisingly wearable.
This true blue shade isn’t “new” but when I saw the Thakoon for NARS collection at Sephora, I was immediately attracted. There’s just something about NARS packaging that can make every shade an instant must have. As I peered over the shoulder of a girl who was painting her nails (in Sephora) with the limited edition shade, I knew I couldn’t get through the Summer without a blue manicure! However, I couldn’t quite get myself to drop $18 for a bottle of polish that would only get used on occasion.
During a routine Walmart trip, I found Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Blue Me Away! which satisfied my craving for blue. I added the Tokidoki sunshine nail decal because the manicure really does remind me of a pristine blue sky! The response to this shade has been surprising as well! I’ve gotten lots of compliments and have even been asked if it was gel polish – a finish that was accomplished by using two coats base, 1 coat polish (two may have been to thick) and 2 coats of top coat. I’m into Day 10 and while it has shown signs of growing out – chips are minimal. This is an accomplishment since I have 2 kids, type on a keyboard for hours a day and do housework. Normally a DIY manicure (without glitter) will last about 5 days.
the FINAL ROAR!: On my last few trips to Sephora, NARS Koliary was sold out. I definitely think Cyan Blue manicures are the underdog shade choice – and a great alternative to Summer turquoise.
I have on Blue Me Away! in both photographs – but took pictures with the bottles for comparison.
