I turn 40 in a few weeks and staying healthy, active and starting regular mammograms is what I’m going to do to be proactive in my breast cancer prevention. We all know someone who has been touched by this disease – lives that have been taken and those who have survived are reminders that life is precious.
←MY BREAST CANCER AWARENESS PRODUCT PICK: Estée Lauder ‘Evelyn Lauder Dream’ Lip Collection ($29.50 – 20% the MSRP goes to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation).
What can we do to help?
Join the efforts to prevent and find a cure for breast cancer by shopping! Cosmetic companies offer limited edition products and a portion of the proceeds (though most companies will make a minimum contribution regardless of sales) benefit breast cancer awareness and research foundations like The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (which was founded by Estee Lauder’s daughter in law, Evelyn Lauder), Living Beyond Breast Cancer, Cancer Care and the Young Survivor Coalition. Of course, you could always make a direct contribution to the charity of your choice.
Staying physically active can help prevent breast cancer so this year, I will be participating in the Komen Race for the Cure here in Hawaii – if you would like to make a donation to help my fundraising efforts [CLICK HERE]. My personal goal is to raise $200 and complete the race in less than 34 minutes (11 minute miles). Its not much, but every little bit helps. Even if you can’t make a monetary contribution, please be sure to do what you can to keep yourself healthy by talking to your doctor about what you can do to stay healthy, happy and vibrant.
