VOLUME ONE: GLOWING SKIN COMBINATIONS
Once in a while, my experimentation yield lovely results. Here are a few of my favorite Cosmetic Monster product mash-ups that will give you gloriously glowing skin and brighter looking eyes in (relatively) an instant!
Marula Pure Marula Facial Oil + Omorovicza Intensive Hydra-Lifting Cream
Combining a pea size amount of cream with a drop of oil will give your skin amazing results by morning. The Omorovicza Intensive Hydra-Lifting Cream ($225, omorovicza.com) has a gloriously nourishing texture that doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on the skin. Marula Pure Marula Facial Oil ($58, sephora.com) is also a wonderful product that absorbs remarkably well for an oil – but still felt, well, oily. Combined together, these two products intensely hydrated, calmed and smoothed my skin without feeling like a heavy layer on the skin.
HOW TO: Mix a pea sized amount of Omorovicza Intensive Hydra-Lifting Cream with a drop (or two) of Marula Facial Oil. Blend together well and pat onto clean skin. Best for PM use.
My Beauty Diary Chocolate Truffle Sheet Mask + LUSH Mask of Magnaminty
Who doesn’t love chocolate mint? Even if you’re not a fan of the candy in a bright green foiled wrapper, this delectable duo will transform your skin in 30 minutes. My Beauty Diary Chocolate Truffle Sheet Mask ($16 for 10 masks, webichi.com) super hydrates the skin by literally soaking it in a lightly chocolate scented serum – which leaves even the most dull looking skin bright. When immediately followed by LUSH Mask of Magnaminty ($24.95, lush.com) pores are clear and tight, dry patches are eliminated and skin is left with a luminous glow that lasts for days.
HOW TO: Apply sheet mask as directed on package. After 10 – 15 minutes, remove mask without rinsing or allowing serum to dry. Apply a generous amount of Mask of Magnaminty – it might not “grab” skin immediately, but keep working it into skin until you apply an even, opaque layer. Allow mask to get about 80% dry. Use warm water to remove by gently wetting and massaging the mask until it gets creamy and rinses away completely. Follow with your regular skin care.
Bobbi Brown Corrector + e.l.f. Shimmering Facial Whip
$1 can take your under eye concealer to a whole new level! My dark circles have become unbearably prominent as the joys of parenthood which are accompanied by crazy busy weekends and a perpetual lack of sleep. A pat of Bobbi Brown Corrector in Peach ($23, bobbibrowncosmetics.com) can just about eliminate any evidence of a hard night (whatever its cause) quite nicely on its own. e.l.f. Shimmering Facial Whip ($1, eyeslipsface.com) in Golden Peach (or Lilac Petal for lighter skin tones) gives point places on the face a soft, shimmery glow. Combine the two together for a truly eye opening look. BONUS: It makes eye shadow go on beautifully and last all day.
HOW TO: Use your eye cream to be sure the eye is well hydrated. Wait a few minutes to let the cream soak in then follow with a very thin application of e.l.f. Shimmering Facial Whip over the areas that need brightening. Use a touch of Bobbi Brown Corrector and press-blend with your ring finger until well blended. The trick is to use teeny tiny amounts of product and layer as needed. Set lightly (too much powder will make your eyes look dry) with a HD powder (I like NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Powder).
