Beauty Budget. Just the idea of having a strict amount of money to feed my “Cosmetic Monster” (hence the blog name) makes my forehead bead with perspiration.
←Me & My Lovely Monsters. They are the inspiration for putting myself on a dreaded Beauty Budget.
With an upcoming 2014 trip to Disneyland still somewhat far in the distance – we are putting our best efforts into saving our “Mickey Money”. This means less eating out (ham sandwich anyone?), less “treats”, less expensive birthday & Christmas gifts – so it only seems fair that I also have less as well.
Sevani Ageless Radiance Refining A.H.A. Cleanser ($39, theskinspecialist.com). A bit pricey – but the payoff is glowing, super soft skin. Watch for a full review this month.→
Starting in May, I am allowing myself a Beauty Budget of $100 per month. Total. That will include hair color, whitening toothpaste, body wash…anything “cosmetic”. This will actually make for an interesting experiment in where money should be spent when it comes to self-care.
I’ll be sure to track all my purchases (PINTEREST | SHOPPING HAULS 2013) and report them each month on the Beauté Board. I wonder what products will make the list?

PETER THOMAS ROTH NEUROLIQUID™ VOLUFILL YOUTH SERUM ($120, sephora.com or peterthomasroth.com). This ultra-light serum literally feels like water on the skin – but water is listed after Proline (amino acid/aids collagen formation), Threonine (amino acid/repair), Serine (skin conditioning agent), & Arginine (amino acid/antioxidant) in the ingredients. Impressive right?
96% of the formula is Peter Thomas Roth’s VoluFill™ Complex: 19 amino acids to help support natural collagen to improve suppleness and smooth the look of wrinkles; five potent peptides to help improve the look of skin thickness; three collagens, hyaluronic acid, and performance enhancers to help improve skin and retain moisture.
Did I mention it feels like nothing and only leaves behind younger looking skin? If you’re under 30, don’t bother. You’re not there yet. But for those of us with anti-aging challenges, this will be a game changer. Mark my words.
