It refines skin texture, brightens skin clarity, and over time, minimizes the look of pores. The JuJu Bar™ is totally fragrance and detergent free and formulated with skin-friendly ingredients designed to calm and feed the skin while promoting moisture retention.

QUICK REVIEW: This product (like nearly the entire Drunk Elephant line) makes me happy. Happy to have found a natural, non-irritating, effective, completely scent-free face bar that WORKS. Genius. Yes, its expensive – but once you try the system, you will wonder how you ever lived without it. Plus, who doesn’t love elephants?

QUICK REVIEW - CARD BOTTOM

DRUNK ELEPHANT SKIN CARE REVIEWS the BACK STORY – Let me start this review with how I discovered this brand new (and amazing) underground line. Anyone remember WONDERBAR? Probably not. I discovered it on Hautelook, did a little research, bought a few and really ended up liking it (didn’t review it since I also found out it was being discontinued). In spite of its limited availability (bars are still available on Amazon – but read on before you jump ship) – I continued to scour the web and eBay for deals and information about this elusive bar. During this journey – I discovered that Tiffany Masterson (of Wonderbar fame) was working on a new project – DRUNK ELEPHANT SKIN CARE.

Drunk Elephant Difference:

Unlike other bar cleansers on the market, JuJu Bar™ is made using the old fashioned “melt and pour” method, is pH neutral and contains 20% glycerine. Drunk Elephant formulations only contain ingredients that are there to benefit skin health and support the formulation, keeping them safe and making them ideal for even the most sensitive skin. You will never find colorants or fragrances of any kind in our products. That is our commitment to you. (Source: Drunk Elephant)

JUJU BAR™ (travel size) is a hand sized cube (1½”x1½x1″ roughly), with a charcoal grey color, bamboo powder for extra mild exfoliation and Heilmoor Clay (like Wonderbar – but that’s where the comparison ends). Designed for use in the morning (although PM use is fine), JuJu Bar lathers easily into a scent-free, creamy, ever-so-slightly abrasive foam that feels comforting, rinses clean and leaves skin feeling fresh, baby soft and without any dryness.

Marula FruitThe ingredients include Drunk Elephant’s signature Marula oil (pictured left), MariMoist® (see ingredients below for properties), Blueberry, Acai, Mangosteen, Green Tea, Aloe Vera and Honey. Its no wonder that skin actually feels moisturized and smooth after use! Its also formulated WITHOUT a long list of undesirables like -cones, mineral oil, parabens, resorcinol, triclosan, formaldehyde, chemical sunscreens and much more (see ingredient information below for complete list of “withouts”).

DRUNK ELEPHANT AM ROUTINEFYI – Since I liked this product so much, I was extra diligent on my research. Every ingredient I didn’t recognize – I looked up. See the results in the INGREDIENT SECTION below.

DRUNK ELEPHANT SKIN CARE AM ROUTINE:  Simply consists of washing with JuJu Bar, C-Firma Day Serum and Blok Sheer Physical Defense SPF 30 (which is the first sunscreen in history to NOT give me a rash after long term use, but I’ll get to that later). How simple is that?

THE FINAL ROARI love love love DRUNK ELEPHANT SKIN CARE JUJU BAR. The question is: Do I love it more than my beloved Conju Princess Soap? The answer, without a doubt is YES (with the addition of the Pekee Bar – which I’ll review next). Conju is definitely a wonderful product that has given me consistent results for years. However, Juju Bar and Pekee Bar leaves my skin just as clean and clear – but minus any redness or dryness. It is expensive for a little bar – but that little bar of wonder (LOL) will last you 4-5 months (AM use only) and give you the most incredible skin you’ve ever had. I’m not exaggerating. A new bar has been set!

UPDATE (08/28/2013): I just ordered a full size JuJu Bar! I’m going to let my 11 year old daughter start using it as well.

DRUNK ELEPHANT BEFORE AND AFTER

(Left – Before, Right – After 3 weeks of use) These photos are after only 3 weeks of consistent use. My spot is lighter, skin is much calmer and no breakouts. I will be sure to update as things improve even more!

  1. Thank you so much for such a detailed review! I just started using the DE Juju Bar and love it but have a couple questions. When you wash your face with the bar, do you touch the actual bar to your face and wash it that way? Also, how are you storing the bar? Because I travel so often, I need a way to store it in between my washes. At first I thought the slide packaging was a container in itself but realized it was just paper so now I am Ziplocing it lol. Any reply back would be awesome! Thanks in advance!! xx
