Simplify & Organize with Pinterest (3 Ideas)
Pinterest is a great resource for finding recipes (for EVERYTHING and with glorious, drool worthy pictures), things to do with your kids, a gazillion fashion ideas, makeup techniques and a ton of other useful (or simply entertaining) “pins”: 23 Ways to Eat a Baked Potato. Seriously. It helps me quickly share WHAT’S NEW IN BEAUTY and even documented my first THANKSGIVING TURKEY (wild success, BTW!). Then I thought of a way for Pinterest to help keep me organized.

See all your handbags (or shoes, or whatnot) in one place, keep a virtual journal of your travels, keep a secret Christmas list and always get what you want.
VIRTUAL CATALOG: Besides cosmetics – I love handbags. You won’t find any LV or Hermes in my collection, but I love a good leather or snakeskin tote (sorry – I also have recycled material totes too). Since I store my bags in a cabinet, I often “forget” about which bags I own. I took pictures of all my handbags and uploaded them to a Pinterest board: MY BAGS. It’s like a visual catalog of the 24 handbags that I own – which will mean that more of them will make it into rotation. You can also do this with your shoes (which comes in handy while picking outfits), special pieces of clothing, or whatever it is that you fancy.
**It was very cool to see all my bags displayed in one place.
SECRET BOARDS: Create a pictorial journal of your latest adventures – without sharing it with the entire media universe. You can upload your favorite vacation moments and add a quick caption of who, what, when, where, why and what you were feeling with a visual reminder of the moment. Come home and create a Shutterfly Photo Book using the images and captions.
With the holidays around the corner – start virtually shopping by creating a CHRISTMAS LIST SECRET BOARD (be sure you use a Secret Board!). When you happen upon perfect gift ideas – simply snap a photo or pin from a website. Be sure to add the following to the description: Who the gift is for, where you saw it, how much and any notes. Update and edit as you go. When you’re ready to purchase – you’ll be ready.
GIFT REGISTRY: Birthdays, Mother’s Day, Wedding, Baby Shower – You can use PINTEREST as a virtual gift registry as well. Most sites allow you to save items to your WISH LIST or FAVORITES – but this way you can keep all your lemmings in one place. Share the board with your significant other (men will thank you), family and friends. You just might be that person that “has everything” and is “hard to buy for” – so this will help spur some ideas. Add the url to your invitations or webpages (yes, they have wedding and shower webpages now). Don’t worry about seeming presumptuous – its only a wish list. Be sure to add items from all price ranges and remember that its the thought that counts.
