Product Rating: ★★★★★★★★☆☆ (8/10)
Tatcha Radiant Deep Brightening Serum hydrates while making the skin appear more luminous.
Experience/Skin Type: Creamy serum that feels like a lightweight moisturizer. Recommended for all skin types. Non-irritating. Non-sensitizing. Dermatologist tested.
Key Ingredients: A brightening serum of time-tested Asian botanicals + HADASEI-3 Bioactive Complex for radiant looking skin.
Quick Review: Like all things Tatcha, Radiant Deep Brightening Serum felt luxurious on the skin and easily worked as a light moisturizing lotion. Tenacious use was needed to see results, but after a few weeks, skin looked softer and more luminous.
If you’ve been following Cosmetic Monster, I’ve been using and reviewing Tatcha since January 2013. My Mom uses the SUPPLE Moisture Rich Silk Cream – religiously. While I am less devoted (I’m a cosmetic blogger – its just part of the lifestyle), I still find myself going back to Tatcha while I’m between testing other products. If you read founder Victoria Tsai’s journey, you can just feel that a lot of thought and love goes into each product. In an industry who’s authenticity has somehow been lost, I’ve realized this is something to be appreciated. As I age (I’m 41) one of the most noticeable changes in my skin is the lack of radiance. If you look at the skin of a young child – it almost sparkles. 41 year old skin? Not so much. I’ve learned to accept certain aspects of my skin (dark spots from living in sun-centric Hawaii, genetic sagging) that doesn’t stop me from doing what I can – short of surgery – to keep my skin looking fresh.
Tatcha RADIANT Deep Brightening Serum is a lightweight creamy serum that feels like a fluid moisturizer on the skin. Since its been incredibly hot and humid this Summer – its made a nice alternative to more nourishing creams. While it lacks the muscle to really do work on dark spots, Radiant does bring skin back to a more luminous state. Just don’t expect immediate results. I started seeing a difference after about 2 weeks.
On the downside, Tatcha RADIANT Deep Brightening Serum is a bit pricey – but it is a lovely alternative to kojic acid and hydroquinone products. Plus its so lovely to use (and to look at) that the price can be forgiven. As an alternative, the Tatcha LUMINOUS Deep Hydration Firming Serum ($95) has more of a gel texture and focuses primarily on hydration (properly hydrated skin looks more plump and therefore more firm).
POLISHED Deep Rice Enzyme Powder ($65 for 2.1 oz.) – This water-activated enzyme powder exfoliates without stripping or irritating the skin. Available in three formulations, the Deep formula can be used 1-2x a week (more if you’re oily/acne prone) to polish away dulling debris and dead skin. Follow with the Radiant Deep Brightening Serum and Ageless Enriching Renewal Cream. Try this combination at night and wake to skin that looks and feels like you had a facial.
Aside from Tatcha being the prettiest skin care line ever, each formula is very thoughtful and effective. Gentle enough for sensitive skin, Tatcha RADIANT Deep Brightening Serum coaxes skin into a more glowing state, revealing a brighter, healthier, more glorious complexion.
