Experience/Skin Type: All skin-types. A multi-purpose dual-phase oil that has the signature La Mer scent, making it a pleasure to use on the face, body and hair. Operates more like a dry oil – you can see the separation of the two phases in the drops, but they infuse seamlessly once rubbed together.
Quick Review: I’m a big fan of face oils in general and was confident that La Mer would up the game and improve on the concept. They did not disappoint. Undeniably second only to their signature cream, The Renewal Oil brings life back to skin (lips, body & hair) in only a few lovely drops.
A bit late into the facial oil game, La Mer The Renewal Oil needed to present a product that would rouse curiosity and provide results worthy of a three digit price tag. Aside from the marketing brilliance that is La Mer – “Suspended within an elixir of ageless energies, potent bubbles of Miracle Broth and a tide of sea-sourced nutrients melt into the skin.” Yes. Please. – this golden oil delivers multi-faceted results and a luxurious experience that is synonymous with the brand.
The Renewal Oil has a dual-phase formula that leaves small bubbles of “broth” that burst on contact and melts into skin. One of the best things about this oil is it doesn’t feel heavy or occlusive on the skin like other oils. La Mer The Renewal Oil has a Meadowfoam Seed Oil base – an highly stable ingredient that is very emollient and high in antioxidants. Similar to jojoba oil, it has skin softening and rejuvenating properties. There are also a plethora of other oils including jojoba, sweet almond, sunflower and more.
While I normally use oils last, I used this one before The Moisturizing Cream and woke to completely moisturized and calm skin in a single night. During the day, I’ve used it on parched lips with a cotton swab before refreshing lip color or use a pat over dry patches to bring life back to tired skin. The Renewal Oil boasts many uses from the most indulgent hair oil (dry or damp hair), healing body oil (or mix together with your body lotion), directly on skin after a hot bath or as a pre or in-flight treatment. Regardless of application – it’s never greasy or irritating.
MONSTER TIP: Facial oils can be incorporated into any skin care routine regardless of skin type. Do not be daunted by the word OIL even if you have an oily skin type. The right oils and application can actually improve the oil balance in your skin, counteract drying acne treatments and
The FINAL ROAR: There are many oils that can honestly produce similar results for a much smaller price tag. That said, there isn’t another oil that I relished in quite as enthusiastically as this one with noticeable effects. If this is within your budget, it is definitely one that will get used to the very last drop.
